The physical effort of this strenuous hike is rivalled only by the peaceful tranquility of the two alpine lakes at your destination, nestled at the at the foot of the mighty northwest face of the Haute Cime and surrounded by a spectactular cirque of limestone cliffs.
This loop trail leads to Antème lakes and mountain hut through forests, mountain pastures and ridges on the opposite side of our valley.
Start from the Route des Rives at the place called La Frâche, gently climb to the Antème lakes through the forest, then take the Sélaire ridge to reach the hut and the lakes.
When you arrive at the lakes, take the time to explore a circuit trail around the lakes, showcasing the wild plants of the area with audio commentary thanks to a walker available at the hut.
When you get back to the original trail, continue along past the Antème hut, then plunge back into the forest on your right and return to your starting point.
Caution: during the summer, herds of sheep in the area are guarded by livestock dogs. Sometimes the pedestrian trails traverse the pens of sheep and guard dogs. Please check with the Tourist Office before you leave to see if the paths are open. We strongly recommend that you not bring dogs on this hike.
