This itinerary offers 2 variations with panoramic views of the Valais, Vaud, and Haute Savoie Alps and the chance to stop for a delicious pick-me-up at Chalet Chanso along the way!

COMPLETE ‘TOUR DE CHANSO PAR LA CHAUX’ OPTION
(according to our map)

Tour: 5h, 12 km, +800m d+.
Don’t take this itinerary if there is any avalanche danger announced.

Start near the church in Morgins’ village centre, passing behind the Chez Jan hotel. Take the road to the right of the bakery to Sépaz (about 20 minutes).

At the chalet with the yellow shutters, continue up towards Les Ecottis. Go around the 2 ski lifts to the right and climb along the edge of the forest through the fields to the point above Les Ecottis. Do not take the path leading up to the Pointe de Bellevue, but stay on the path leading off to the right, ‘Tour de Chanso par la Chaux’.

At the crossroads of the roads, go up through the fields to the right below Culet farm towards La Chaux. Descend towards the farms of the Chanso mountain pasture as far as the ‘Chalet Chanso’ restaurant, where you can enjoy a gourmet break with an exceptional panoramic view of the Dents du Midi and the Vaud and Valais Alps.

Descend below Chalet Chanso to reach the road with its hairpin bend. At the Ferrage restaurant (closed in winter), take the path on the right at the edge of the forest towards Les Troncs and Sépaz (slightly uphill) to descend to Morgins.

Caution:
Do not walk beyond the avalanche warning sign. Please follow the markings and do not approach the ridge due to the avalanche risk and breakable ledges.
This itinerary does not connect with the Pointe de Bellevue (avalanche danger from La Chaux-Chanso; in winter, the Pointe de Bellevue summit is only accessible from the Col Portes de Culet – see itinerary #23)
