Walk to the neighboring village of Val d'Illiez and return along the banks of the rushing Vièze River in the pastoral valley just below Champéry.
From the cable-car, walk up the road to Champéry Village, then turn right on the Rue du Village and walk down the main street. At the Hôtel le White, continue straight on the Route de Chavalet. At the end of this road, follow the trail in the direction of Val-d’Illiez, crossing over the main Route de Champéry on your way.
At the old sawmill in La Cour, follow the pedestrian signs to return to Champéry. This road will head downhill and follow the banks of the Vièze River. At the old stone bridge called Souscex turn right to climb the gravel road up towards Champéry. When you arrive on the paved road, turn left and head towards the Palladium to rejoin the Route de Champéry.
Good to know:
From Val d’Illiez, you can also opt to take the AOMC train home to Champéry (timetable on www.tpc.ch).
