~The MEBP® Technique~
The MEBP® technique is a specific massage designed for children with special needs such as Autism (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity (ADHD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), High Potential (HPI), Tourette Syndrome (TS), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), and all DYS- disorders. It stands out from traditional massage as it is specially adapted to the sensory needs often encountered in neurodevelopmental disorders.
It can also be beneficial for any child facing challenges like stress, sleep disorders, fears, anxiety, learning difficulties, concentration or memory issues, etc.
The key aspect of this technique is that the child does not have to actively participate. The masseur has no expectations of the child, who is free to talk or move around. The goal of the massage is to help the child relax and feel calm.
The MEBP® technique is performed on the floor, on a futon, and over the clothes. The futon minimizes space management and the risk of height, fostering closeness between the practitioner and the person receiving the massage, who is free to move. Keeping the clothes on respects the sensory boundaries of the individual and maintains their privacy. The session follows a clear and effective visual routine that marks the beginning, progress, and end, reducing potential anxiety related to changes in routine and new experiences, while providing a secure environment.
