Named for the characteristic wooden baskets which alpine farmers traditionally carried on their backs, this local cooperative shop offers a wide variety of regional products in an effort to promote local agriculture and fair trade.
Thanks to the support of the municipality of Champéry, La Cavagne is pleased to announce the reopening of La Petite Cavagne under a new name, La Cavagne 1874. Located in Champéry’s former post office, our new site offers a shop area, on-site tastings of La Cavagne products, catering services and a convenient location right across from the cable car.
The cheeses come from our own alpine pastures, the jams are home-made, the bread is freshly-baked and the meats are carefully prepared according to local tradition. If you’re looking to wet your whistle, you can choose from a wide variety of superb local wines or more serious spirits. Our warm and welcoming shop offers the very best of our regional specialties, for your own table or dressed-up in a beautiful basket for a truly unique gift. The Cavagne was recently awarded the Prix Montagne by the Groupement Suisse pour les Régions de Montagne and the Aide Suisse aux Montagnards, two organizations which are active in promoting and assisting Swiss alpine farming regions.
