This lovely trail on the sunny side of the mountain traverses the hamlet of Crettet-Bornex on the hillside above Les Crosets.
The trail leaves from the little chapel at the entrance to Les Crosets.
Follow the pink #5 snowshoe signs.
Walk uphill along the edge of the ski slope to the road, then head left through a residential area of chalets for about 300 meters. Turn right and go up a pretty path along the ski slopes. Take a moment to admire the Dents du Midi and the ski area as you walk towards a site called Vaillime. Continue slightly to the left in the direction of the Relais Panoramique Restaurant. If you have time, stop to sample their specialty, the traditional Swiss hashed potato dish called rösti.
At the restaurant, you can either :
-shorten your hike and head down below the restaurant on a groomed trail to join the Crettet-Bornex road (see map under multimedia);
-continue straight on after the restaurant and go up slightly through the forest towards Champoussin on a groomed path to the Pas de Croisette (see our main map of the route).
At the Pas de Croisette :
Trail #5 branches off to the right onto a groomed path and descends to the road to reach Les Crosets.
Variant via the summit of the Croix de l’Aiguille: (see map under multimedia)
If you’re feeling energetic, join up with trail #6 for a small additional loop up to the Croix de l’Aiguille (follow the ridge then go down under the cross to come back by the groomed path to the Pas de Croisette).
