A proud native of Champery, Basile Marclay is, at first sight, a young man like any other. But, he stands out from others by virtue of his confidence when affronting the region’s mountain peaks accompanied with his main allies, his technique and experience.
The descent of the couloir de la Dent Jaune at just 11 years of age, was undoubtedly the moment when Basile fell in love with the Region’s mountains. A continual adrenalin hunter, this young man from Champery is not merely satisfied with descending the mountains like other skiers and on the same lines. He is, instead, in pursuit of different sensations and journeys and pushing his passion further. For this, he does not hesitate in taking chances and adventuring over rocks and imagining unlikely itineraries. Once his descent embarked upon, this natural born skier, tells himself he is “100% in his element”.
Despite his young age and continual pursuit of sensations, Basile is aware of the risks that such quests entail and, he willingly accepts them. When this passionate young man is not only running down the mountain slopes, he is paragliding them. With modesty, while Basile does not claim to have the highest mountains in the world at his doorstop, he does affirm that they are the most beautiful.
