The climate in the Région Dents du Midi
The climate in the Région Dents du Midi and the Swiss Valais is a mountain climate. This is an area that is fairly wet in terms of precipitation (rain and snow), especially during the winter period. Despite its average altitude (1’000 metres), the villages frequently experiences negative temperatures from late November to late February. This allows the snowpack and ski slopes to be of good quality at higher altitudes (1’500 to 2’200 metres). Perfect conditions for sliding. In summer the temperature is pleasant and favours long-distance hikes. However, be aware of thunderstorms, which can sometimes be severe. Especially if you are camping in the middle of nature, near the peaks.
For more information of the snow conditions on the ski area as well as avalanche risks, consult the snow report, updated daily by ski lift companies.
